Life Lessons

February 26, 2020

I have been asked by almost everyone that has read my book to go into some more depth concerning the life lessons I learned from my experiences. First I would like to say that I am still learning and that almost everything I do is in part an effort to better understand my life and it’s lessons. By sharing our stories, I believe we can help other understand their own stories and life lessons and they in turn can help us understand our own. We are not solitary creatures. We are communal by nature. If you have never seen it, I cannot recommend enough, Tom Shadyac’s documentary film “I AM”. You will either love it or hate it, but either way you will most likely slow down for a moment and think about your own life and who you are.

Lately, I have been trying to slow down and think about my own life lessons. I want to share with you one of my books reviews that was very rewarding for me to receive.

“First things first, since I never got a chance to tell you, the book is awesome. I know you got the review, but once I really got into the book a little bit, I couldn’t put the thing down. As you get older and towards the end of your playing sports “career”, you really start to realize that aside from the great relationships you create the most important take away from it all is all these life-lessons that you learn throughout the whole process. Your story itself is great, but my favorite part of the book is that it reminded me of playing sports and the lessons I had learned. There were many KEY life lesson takeaways, whether you know it or not, from your book and a lot of them are things the majority of people will deal with within their lifetime. Great work, man!”

The reasons I loved this review was that it validated one of my main desires in writing my story. I had hoped that it would allow people to reflect on their on stories and see the life lessons in mine without me having to spell them out. The story itself would share life lessons with you.  I hope we can all share our stories as we go forward in this very wonderful (and sometimes very crazy) world and time we are living in.

I intend to post on the website a few videos where i will talk about my interpretations of the life lessons I learned in many different chapters of my book. I hope all of you will send me your own stories and thoughts.

Wes
